FUN TIMES HAD REPRESENTING COVERFLY SCREECRAFT SUMMIT 2019 (ARCHIVE)
Sponsored by the Atlanta Film Fest, The Atlanta ScreenCraft Writer’s Summit brings wordsmiths and important industry folks together in the same room for a day of panel discussions, meets ups and general fest hi jinks. Hosted at the Georgia Terrace Hotel, from April 5th – 8th, 2019, some amazing Hollywood guests mingled with excited and aspiring writers from all over the nation.
Doug Jung (Star Trek Beyond, Big Love, The Cloverfield Paradox), Darrien Gipson (National Director, SAG indie), Ben Cory Jones (Boomerang, Insecure, Underground), David Rabinowitz (Oscar Winner, BlacKkKlansman), Chad Kennedy (VP Current Programming, Warner Bros. Television), Steven E. de Souza (Die Hard, Commando) were among the many noteworthy names in attendance.
Literary agents also peppered the GA landscape and included but were not limited to Keya Khayatian (Partner & Literary Agent, United Talent Agency), Hannah Ozer (Literary Manager, Kaplan/Perrone), Tony Gil (Literary Manager, The Gotham Group) and Scott Carr (Literary Manager, Management SGC).
Very lucky me, I got to represent mah Coverfly peeps as a pitch fest judge, where I was partnered with the fabulous and beautiful Julie O’Hora of “Pool Boys” fame.
Local writers and wordsmiths from places like New York, LA and surrounding states tossed amazing pitches at us. We had to pick one from among the group and honestly, it was hard as hell to narrow it down. There was so much talent in that room, it raised the hair on my arms.
As an added bonus, I got to spend time with my 24-year-old niece Jasmine, who drove me to the event and hung out all night long to cheer on fellow creatives (she’s an amazing graphic designer and actress)!
It was a fun and exciting time and I really look forward to what the ScreenCraft Writer’s Summit has in store for me in 2020. Until such time my peeps, keep your heads up my friends and write on!
